Got the T-shirt?

I got a new t-shirt the other day. I like it. You can see it here.
You can even buy one for yourself (or your pastor’s wife if you dare, although I wouldn’t advise it unless you’re pretty certain she’s got issues…and wouldn’t mind broadcasting it).
And if a t-shirt doesn’t suit you, have no [...]

Hey Pastors’ Wives

Two things.
First, apparently we’re famous. Check us out in the article, The Lonely Life of a Pastor’s Wife by Gracie Bonds Staples in yesterday’s edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Second, if I build it, will you come? They say we (i.e. pastors’ wives) are lonely. Well, I know I am on occasion, and [...]

Fishing

We (Brian and I) got into a discussion recently with several others about the concept of being “fishers of men” (Luke 5:1-11).
Here’s one of the reasons he is the pastor and I am not:
Brian: We are all called to be “fishers of men” but being a “fisher of men” doesn’t necessarily mean we are [...]

What Pastors’ Wives Really Want

Mike recently left the following comment in response to my post, You May Feel Alone, but You’re Not. Given that he asks such an EXCELLENT question (and a question which is so rarely asked—do I hear an “Amen!” PW’s?), I thought his comment deserved a place of higher honor (i.e. a post all to [...]

MIA

So I’ve been MIA. I’ve decided this is just the way life will be as a pastor’s wife. Sometimes there are things at church that occupy virtually all my time. Such has been the case the last 2 weeks. I think hope we’re coming out of it…but we never know.
In the [...]

You May Feel Alone, but You’re Not

If you’re a PW (Pastor’s Wife), God bless ya. It ain’t easy girls. At this very moment, I’m personally NOT loving it. I suspect this will change (hopefully soon) but right now here’s my question: Is an extra jewel in my crown really worth all the pain?
Anyway, Just Between Us magazine [...]

Unimaginable

As a PW, I occasionally have the privilege of catching a glimpse into the soul of an individual who looks perfectly put together on the outside.
Looks can be deceiving.
I hung out with someone today who’s background is simply astounding—”pain” is an understatement.
I walked away feeling incredibly sad. Totally overwhelmed. And wondering, “Why, God?”
But [...]

Retreat, PW’s. RETREAT!

I’m feelin’ the love for you fellow PW’s out there so I continue with something just for you.
Here. Take a 5-day retreat for free…because all the insanity of ministry is enough to make you go stark raving mad if you don’t take time out to curb the chaos.
(You’ll have to take your husband along, [...]

You Know You’re a Pastor’s Wife When…

Just my own personal list…

You know you’re a pastor’s wife when…you are rarely referred to by your given name. You are most often “The Pastor’s Wife” or a variation on that theme (”Pastor ______’s Wife,” “Married to the Pastor,” etc.). You may even be called “The First Lady” (which I find personally unnerving—I [...]

Clueless

Jeremiah. He’s an interesting fellow. I love the way he opens his book:
The Lord gave me a message. He said, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.”
“O Sovereign Lord,” I said, [...]
