To comply with the recent FTC ruling stating that bloggers must disclose when they are being compensated in some way for the things they post on their blogs, I’m writing this hopefully not-stuffy stuff.

Lucky for you (not me), it’s gonna be short.

There are exactly two ways I have the potential of being compensated for what is on this blog. Notice I say “potential” because, well, one of them hasn’t really panned out yet. And the other? Well, let’s just say I ain’t going on any lavish vacations anytime soon. Heck, I’m not even going to the local coffee shop soon.

Those two ways are:

Affiliate sales. This means that some of my links will send you to sites that want to sell you something. If you decide to buy something from them, that company will give me a small cut of the profit for sending you over.

Advertising. This means that you may see ads around here. If you click on them, I get a few dimes thrown at me too. (And up until now, when I say dimes, I really mean dimes. Actually, mostly pennies.)

Oh, I almost forgot. On two occasions someone sent me a book in the mail to review. Unfortunately I didn’t really like either book and that was the end of that.

I guess that leads me to my next point which is, I’m pretty sure about what I like and what I don’t and if you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you probably know that I do my best to be real. My dad calls this “lettin’ it all hang out.” If anyone else sends me something to review, you have my word that I will not let their kindness influence what I tell you about it. And also, I’ll let you know if I’m reviewing something that I got for free.

(By the way, for those of you reading who might represent a company wanting to send me something to review — all .054 of you — I’ll give you a hint. You have an exponentially increased chance of getting a positive review from me if you want to send me an iPhone or pretty much anything from IKEA. Chocolate is good too.)

So, that’s it! See? Short. In fact, I’m pretty sure there are more words in this post than dollars in my bank account from any of my blogging escapades.

But, you know, I’m hopeful.
