My absolute favorite dinner out
July 28, 2009
Going out to a sit-down restaurant with all 4 kids in tow gives me stress. I am constantly going, ARE WE REALLY THIS LOUD & OBNOXIOUS AT HOME?!?
Wanna know my favorite dinner out? Well, I’ll tell ya.
We strap ‘em all into the car, head on over to a drive thru –any drive thru with a Dollar Menu will do just fine–order some stuff (usually a burger or two and chicken nuggets/tenders/whatevertheycall’em and fries–no sauce or ketchup allowed) along with a few waters.
When we get to the window to pay, we ask for extra napkins and 4 small bags.
Once all food, waters, napkins & bags are accounted for, “dinner prep” commences.
While flat, I rip the top half off of each of the small bags. When opened, they are like little square bowls. I dump the desired food items for each kid in a “bowl,” along with a napkin or two. Distribute. Water cups go to the big kids; sippy cups get filled with water for the littles.
Then we turn up the music and drive.
Everyone stays quiet, everyone likes the food and best of all, everyone doesn’t move.
“Doing the dishes” equals telling everyone to collect their “bowls,” napkins, water cups, wrappers “and any other trash you might have in and around your seat” (why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone) and throw it in the big bag.
Once all are sufficiently stuffed, we head home.
Bag goes in trash.
Dinner’s done.
$10 worth of pure bliss.
And no stress.

Why have I never thought of this before?! I love this idea. We go to Wendy’s way more than we should and we never get out of there for under $18 but now I know how!!!! I can’t wait to try it.
