Grace & oranges
The fruit of grace is like the lovely and abundant oranges produced from a tiny orange seed, planted, nourished and watered by the Creator.
The fruit of good works is like the lovely but limited oranges I picked elsewhere and tied to the branches of a tree which is not orange at all.

Getting grace
The title of this blog haunts me a bit. Mostly because I feel so without purpose. I mean, I know I have purpose in the God-absolutely-put-me-here-for-a-reason sense, but I’m having trouble figuring it out in the practical sense. What am I doing right now? How does that fit in the big scheme of things? Should Continue reading...
Tax day
I did our taxes yesterday. Who knew it could be so quick & easy when you don’t have to deal with all the funky rules about clergy?
Or maybe it’s because we have no assets.
Either way, it was the best time doing taxes I’ve had all year.

14 Best baby buys & tips
Jo-Lynne over at Musings of a Housewife just posted about baby items, specifically what has worked for her and what hasn’t.
I’ve been thinking about this very subject lately and have been meaning to post so this seems like a good time to do so.

Free printable medical record log
Have you ever been filling out a form (as a new patient at a doctor’s office, applying for insurance, etc.) and were asked for your (or your child’s) medical history? And do you usually have to go by memory because you never wrote it all down? I do.
Well, I got tired of trying to remember Continue reading...
28 kid-friendly, (mostly) healthy snack ideas
We are beginning to consume large quantities of food around here. I hate to think of what the teen years will be like.
When it comes to snacks (and food in general), I generally take this approach:
I go for natural stuff, but not necessarily organic. I like our food to come from the ground, not Continue reading...
One of those mornings
I just began a beautiful, sunny day in a far from stellar way.
My daughter needed help figuring out a problem she’s having at school and what did I do? Comfort her and calmly help her lay out her options? Empathize and attempt to help her think it through?
No.
I got frustrated in a c’mon-why-can’t-you-be-more-responsible sort of Continue reading...
