Divorce

October 13, 2008

I’ve been thinking about divorce lately after hearing how it’s touching the lives of some friends. Very often we look at is as a solution to a problem between two people. But it’s so much more than that. It’s like a relay race and every time divorce occurs, it’s as if the baton is being passed.

So, anyone who comes from a broken home has already had the “baton” passed to them. And the momentum is building. If they choose divorce, they are passing the baton to their kids. And the momentum builds more. Then those kids are much more likely to see divorce as an option and give in to the momentum themselves. And it goes on, potentially effecting the lives of generations.

The couple with the strength & determination and God’s grace to stop the momentum and DROP the baton instead of passing it (or never start it in the first place), wins.
