What Can I Say?

September 12, 2005

I am a bit overwhelmed, in a good way, by all the congratulations, prayers and well wishes I’ve received in response to my last post. Thank you. Really. (I’m also grateful for all your suggestions regarding nausea, even though none have worked—no offense).

Perhaps I need to get pregnant more often and announce it on my blog because all the feedback both online and off has really boosted by ego—I mean, I’m beginning to think you actually care about me. Mostly I just can’t believe you actually read my blog. I’m so sarcastic, cynical, pessimistic and critical. You can’t possibly leave this site feeling uplifted, can you? Geez, I even depress myself.

I think I read this blog because you’re very real, and as a pastor’s wife myself, that’s what i want to be to people. be encouraged–we’re all in this together! It’s tough living in this fishbowl (have you seen Because of Winn-Dixie? We don’t want to turn out like her! We NEED each other, PWs!)

Ditto what Julie said. :) Though I haven’t seen Winn-Dixie. And aside from being real and honest, you are also funny, and I like funny. :)
Please feel better soon! Did you tell us how far along you are? Hopefully the sickness will disappear in a few weeks…

I too agree with Julie. You’re real. I was looking for a real person PW like myself, one who makes mistakes and can laugh too. Thanks for just being you.

Hi - I came across your blog because I googled “pregnant and pastor.” First off - congratulations! Second - I’m curious how your partner’s congregation reacted to the news of your pregnancy and how you shared it? I’m a pastor and pregnant but very early on and don’t know how or when to tell my congregation or how they’ll react. Privacy is super important to me since this is my first. Any suggestions?

Echoing what the first three commentors said, you are “real.” You also write very, very well (something that is too-often missing in the blogosphere…).

Besides, your being sarcastic, cynical, pessimistic, & critical just makes you a kindred spirit! ;-)
