Thankfulness
April 17, 2005
I’m reading Colossians currently and I noticed something. Paul mentions being thankful 5 different times in the book (which has only 4 chapters total). So as someone who tends toward criticism and pessimism (not thankfulness) I took notice.
I know it’s important to be thankful, but I started wondering why he makes such a big deal of it. I mean, there must be a reason he mentions it repeatedly in such a short letter. Then it hit me. Thankfulness and criticism cannot coexist.
In other words, if I make a conscious decision to be thankful, my criticism would disappear. And if my criticism is gone, growing spiritually would be a much easier process. Imagine that. I’ve gotta say, sometimes my profundity astounds me.
